Neighbourhood Holiday Markets in Toronto 2026

Beyond the big-ticket markets like the Distillery Winter Village, Toronto’s neighbourhoods host dozens of smaller holiday markets each year. They’re usually free, less crowded and full of local makers.

Types of neighbourhood markets

  • Business improvement area (BIA) events: many BIAs hold holiday strolls, pop-up markets and Santa visits on their main streets.
  • Farmers’ markets: several have special holiday editions with gifts and seasonal food, including the St. Lawrence Market and Evergreen Brick Works.
  • Maker and craft markets: independent markets in community halls, breweries and galleries. See Toronto Christmas craft fairs.
  • School and church bazaars: small, very local and often raising money for a cause.

Where to look

  • Christmas in Leslieville
  • Christmas in the Junction
  • Christmas in the Beaches
  • Christmas on Queen West
  • Christmas on the Danforth
  • Kensington Market

Why shop at a neighbourhood market?

Toronto’s small holiday markets are some of the best places to find gifts you won’t see anywhere else. Most vendors are local makers selling directly, so your money goes straight to small businesses and artists. Prices are often lower than at big ticketed shows, there’s rarely an admission fee, and you can usually chat with the person who made what you’re buying. They’re also far less crowded than the Distillery on a Saturday night.

What you’ll find

  • Handmade jewellery, ceramics and textiles
  • Prints, cards and illustrated maps of Toronto
  • Candles, soaps and skincare from small-batch makers
  • Vintage clothing and housewares
  • Baked goods, preserves, hot sauce and coffee
  • Kids’ clothing, toys and books

Neighbourhood market highlights by area

  • East end: Leslieville’s and Riverside’s makers’ markets, and holiday events in the Beaches and the Danforth.
  • West end: the Junction, Roncesvalles and Bloor West Village host holiday markets and late-night shopping events.
  • Downtown: markets at The Bentway, St. Lawrence Market and Harbourfront Centre.
  • Midtown and north: church fairs and community centre bazaars in Leaside, North York and beyond.

Dates change every year. Check the Christmas market calendar for the 2026 list, and follow your local BIA.

A neighbourhood market Saturday

Pick one neighbourhood and make a day of it: browse a morning market, have lunch at a local café, shop the boutiques on the main street in the afternoon, and finish with a hot chocolate or an early dinner. You’ll support a dozen local businesses in one outing.

Neighbourhood holiday markets: FAQ

Are neighbourhood markets free? Almost all are free to enter.

When are they held? Mostly on weekends from mid-November to mid-December.

Tips

  • Follow your local BIA on social media; that’s where dates are announced.
  • Bring cash: most vendors take cards, but some small stalls don’t.
  • Weekends from mid-November to mid-December are peak market season.

For a full date-by-date list, see the Toronto Christmas market calendar.
