The Distillery Winter Village is free on some days and ticketed on others, and the rules change through the season. Here’s exactly when you need a ticket in 2026, what it costs and how to buy one safely.
The short answer
You don’t need a ticket on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays until December 13, or before 4 p.m. on most days. You do need a ticket on weekend evenings, Thursday evenings in December, every evening from December 14 to 31, and on opening night.
2026 ticket calendar

| Friday, Saturday and Sunday after 4 p.m. | Yes |
| Thursdays in December after 4 p.m. | Yes |

The organizers haven’t spelled out every possible date (for example, January 1 to 3), so check the calendar on the official website before you go if your visit falls outside the periods above.
How much do tickets cost?
Tickets start at $16 plus HST and a service charge for 2026. There are three types:
- General admission: entry for a timed window on the date you choose. The cheapest option.
- Flex and Express: higher-priced options with extra flexibility or faster entry. The official site lists exactly what each one includes.
Children 9 and under are always free and don’t need a ticket, even at ticketed times.
The new digital Nutcracker experience and some other attractions inside the village need their own separate ticket. Market admission doesn’t include them.
Why are there tickets at all?
The village draws more than a million visitors over seven weeks. Timed tickets at peak times keep the lanes walkable and fund the event; profits from opening night go to the Anishnawbe Health Foundation, Soulpepper Theatre Company and the Toronto Star Santa Claus Fund.
Is it worth paying for an evening ticket?
Evenings are when the lights look their best, so a ticket is worth it if you can only go after dark. But if your schedule allows, a free Monday to Wednesday visit starting around 3 p.m. gets you the same lights at dusk without paying. - Avoid resellers and social media offers. Fake ticket ads and look-alike sites appear every season. See how to avoid fake Christmas market tickets.
- Book weekend and late-December dates early. Popular evening slots sell out, especially Saturdays in December.
