The One of a Kind show has been Toronto’s big holiday shopping event since 1975. For ten days, Canadian artisans, designers and food producers fill the Enercare Centre at Exhibition Place with handmade jewellery, ceramics, clothing, home goods, art and gourmet food. If you want gifts nobody else will give, this is the place.

- PRESTO Day, Wednesday, December 2: PRESTO card holders pay $20 for adult admission at the door.
- Buy one, get one after 5 p.m., November 30 to December 2: a second ticket free at the door (no re-entry on these tickets).

Tips for shopping One of a Kind
- Go on a weekday if you can. Monday to Wednesday is calmest, and the evening deals make it cheaper too.
- Use your re-entry. Do a first lap to take notes and photos, then come back for the pieces you can’t stop thinking about.
- Bring a list and a budget. With hundreds of booths, it’s easy to overspend on the first aisle.
- Pick up food gifts last so you’re not carrying jars and chocolate all day.
- Make it a night out at the Late Night Shopping Party on Thursday, December 3, open until 11 p.m.
- Ask makers about custom orders. Many take commissions for later delivery.
Getting there
- GO Transit: Exhibition GO station on the Lakeshore West line is a short walk from the Enercare Centre.
- Streetcar: the 509 Harbourfront (from Union Station) and the 511 Bathurst streetcars both serve Exhibition Place.
- Driving: paid parking is available at Exhibition Place, but it fills on weekends.
More places to shop handmade
