Black Friday has become one of the biggest shopping days of the year in Canada, and Toronto’s malls go all in. In 2026, Black Friday falls on Friday, November 27, the day after American Thanksgiving. It’s also the opening day of the One of a Kind Christmas Show, so it’s a big day for holiday shopping of every kind.

Where to shop in Toronto

  • CF Toronto Eaton Centre: downtown’s biggest mall, with holiday decorations and easy subway access at Queen and Dundas stations. Eaton Centre at Christmas
  • Yorkdale Shopping Centre: Toronto’s luxury mall, on Line 1 at Yorkdale Station.
  • CF Sherway Gardens (Etobicoke), CF Fairview Mall (North York) and Scarborough Town Centre: big suburban malls with major retailers.
  • Square One in Mississauga, just west of the city.
  • Outlet malls: Toronto Premium Outlets in Halton Hills and Vaughan Mills in Vaughan.

Many stores open early and extend hours on Black Friday; malls post their holiday hours in November. See Toronto mall holiday hours.

Shop local on Black Friday weekend

Independent shops along Queen Street West, Ossington, Leslieville and the Junction often run their own weekend sales. Pair them with the One of a Kind show for gifts made by Canadian makers. Made-in-Toronto gifts · Toronto’s best shopping streets

Black Friday shopping strategy

  1. Make a list and set a budget before the weekend, and stick to it.
  2. Compare prices online first. Many retailers match their own online prices in store, but policies vary.
  3. Check return policies: some Black Friday deals are final sale.
  4. Go early or late: malls are busiest from late morning to mid-afternoon.
  5. Use the PATH downtown to hop between the Eaton Centre and other shops without going outside.
  6. Watch for Boxing Day: some categories, like winter clothing and electronics, may be cheaper on Boxing Day (Saturday, December 26, 2026).

Getting to the malls

Mall By transit
CF Toronto Eaton Centre Queen or Dundas station (Line 1)
Yorkdale Shopping Centre Yorkdale station (Line 1)
CF Fairview Mall Don Mills station (Line 4)
Scarborough Town Centre Bus connections from Kennedy station
CF Sherway Gardens Bus connections from Kipling station
Square One, Mississauga MiWay buses and GO buses to the City Centre terminal

Parking fills fast at suburban malls on Black Friday weekend, so transit can save time.

Black Friday vs. Cyber Monday

Black Friday is best for in-store doorbusters and trying things on. Cyber Monday (November 30, 2026) is usually best for online-only deals and electronics. Many retailers now run sales for the whole week, so there’s less pressure to shop on the day itself.

After Black Friday

Black Friday weekend also kicks off Toronto’s busiest holiday weekends. Combine shopping with the One of a Kind Show, a visit to the Distillery Winter Village or a Christmas market. More shopping advice: Christmas shopping in Toronto.

Black Friday in Toronto: FAQ

What time do Toronto malls open on Black Friday? Many open early. Each mall posts its Black Friday hours in November, so check its website.

Is Black Friday a holiday in Ontario? No. It’s a regular working day; stores, banks and offices are open as usual.

Tips

  • Take transit to the big malls; parking fills by mid-morning.
  • Shop early or late; mid-day is the busiest.
  • Check return windows, which some stores shorten for sale items.
  • Compare with Boxing Day. Some categories, like electronics, see deeper discounts on Boxing Day (December 26).
